Sitchu Readers Share Their Favourite Beaches in Victoria for Fun in the Sun
We asked you to spill which beaches across Victoria have made a splash on your hearts.
Victoria has no shortage of beautiful beaches. In fact, it can actually be quite the task to pick which one you'd like to lay your towel upon the sand of and laze about for the day. From near-city spots perfect for a quick dip or coastal towns ideal for a weekend away, we're truly spoilt for choice.
We took to our Instagram to ask our readers where their favourite beach in Melbourne and Victoria is—and the responses are quite varied.
Whether you want to pop down to a close-by beach for a couple of hours or turn it into a day trip, these are your go-to beaches across Victoria.
Sorrento Ocean Beach
Sorrento is a favourite for many who love spending their summers down by the beach. People flock here in droves to soak up the sun and enjoy the atmosphere, and there are not one, but two beaches to visit!
Sorrento Ocean Beach is known for its stunning rock pools, which can be explored if the tide is low. Wander through and keep your eyes peeled for crabs scurrying between rocks and small fish darting around. Afterwards, head over to the sand and enjoy the thrilling surf. Be sure to swim between the red and yellow flags, as the current is strong unpredictable and can often change, leading to rips.
If you'd rather a relaxing swim, Sorrento Front Beach is far more tranquil. Bring a book, slap on some sunscreen and enjoy lounging on the sand before having a shower and heading to Hotel Sorrento for dinner. It sounds like the perfect day, right?

Mount Martha Beach
Mount Martha Beach is one of the best beaches in Victoria—and a Sitchu reader favourite—for good reason. With its iconic colourful weatherboard beach boxes lining the shore, pristine sand and crystal-clear waters, it’s a picture-perfect destination. Whether you’re relaxing under the sun, taking a refreshing dip, or snapping Instagram-worthy photos of the vibrant beach boxes, Mount Martha Beach offers a serene coastal escape that’s hard to beat.
Sitchu Tip: The sand gets incredibly hot, so we suggest wearing closed-toe shoes while you're walking along the sand and before you get into the water.

The heritage-listed boxes are a photographer's dream, lined neatly in a row and beckoning for a camera to be pointed its way. Brighton Beach's calm waters make it perfect for swimming, and located only 30 minutes from the Melbourne CBD, you'll be sinking your toes into the soft sand in a jiffy.

Point Leo Beach
While it's a favourite amongst surfers, Point Leo Beach is often forgotten about by those seeking a quieter coastal escape. Hidden away on the Mornington Peninsula, this beach offers consistent waves for surfers and a peaceful atmosphere for anyone looking to unwind by the sea.
While it may not be the best for casual swimmers due to the strong tide and big waves, it's a relaxing spot to walk along or sit on the sand with a good summer read.

Lorne Beach
While it may be a bit of a drive, Lorne Beach is certainly worth it for its stunning coastline, vibrant atmosphere, and endless activities. Nestled along the Great Ocean Road, this popular beach destination offers soft sands, great surf, and plenty of nearby cafes and shops to explore.
The vast expanse of sand leaves you spoilt for choice for where you'd like to set up camp for the day. Race your company of choice to the water and float your way to relaxation.
For Instagram user @pamankane, Lorne Beach evokes "summer holidays as a kid, to night swims while camping as an adult," blending nostalgia with fun, new memories.
