MORNINGTON

GET TO KNOW
THE AREA

Easy-going with a whole lot of urban charm, Mornington is a little slice of paradise on the bay. With a laid-back village, stunning beaches, and a café culture to rival that of Melbourne , you will quickly be hooked on Mornington’s love for all things outdoors.

Lifestyle

Mornington may be the gateway to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula region, but this bayside beauty gives you very little reason to leave. Beaches, wineries and a village that’s overflowing with cafés and dining hotspots. There’s also a thriving sports scene both on and offshore.

An hour from Melbourne, Mornington’s village centre is action-packed. On-trend cafés, beloved restaurants, local watering holes, boutiques and brand-name stores run the length of Main Street.

But it’s on Wednesdays that the village really shines when Main Street Market has stalls selling everything homemade, home-baked and homegrown. The Mornington Park flows down straight onto the beach. The beach itself is ideal for swimming while the pier and marina are the launching pad for many sailing adventures. Inland, there is an abundance of playing fields and parks that cater well to AFL, while horse breeders and stables dominate the north. Mornington also loves to entertain – a cinema, theatre, art galleries, botanical rose gardens and outdoor concerts held at the Mornington Racecourse.

CAFÉ CULTURE

From industrial hangouts to laid-back digs with a sea breeze, the café scene in Mornington is well and truly alive. Main Street has an impressive line-up of brunch spots that champion farmgate produce, or head into the backstreets of Mornington to Commonfolk for coffee with a social conscious.

BEACHES & PARKS

Mornington has been a popular bayside destination since the 1800s due to it serving as the entry point to the Peninsula but it has its own reasons, too. There’s the expanse of foreshore parkland that flows down onto the beach, perfect for swimming and paddle boarding. Also, an abundance of parks and botanical gardens for gatherings, and a sailing culture that gets into full swing when the weather warms up charm those who stop by.

WINERIES

The Mornington Peninsula is renowned for its wineries, and there are small vineyards just past Mornington in neighbouring Moorooduc off Moorooduc Highway. But head over to Mornington Peninsula Freeway for a great selection of wineries that boast cellar doors, restaurants and outdoor concerts.
