Living in Merricks
The Locals

Merricks is a rural town in the south-eastern Mornington Peninsula between Hastings and Flinders. Bordering both wine country and the coast, locals can enjoy the benefits of both land and sea. An area rich in agriculture, there is a strong focus on local production. Food and beverages are major draw cards for locals and tourists alike. Like many of its neighbours on the peninsula, it maintains a predominately coastal town feel, with locals spending their time near the beach swimming, walking, and enjoying the outdoors (when they aren’t enjoying the wine of the region, of course).
Just moments from Merricks Beach, locals flock to this gorgeous spot, which overlooks Phillip Island and boasts clean white sand and a rocky tidal bay. The beach is a hub for coastal walks, swimming, and water activities.

Undeniably one of the main attractions is the food and wine scene here. The town is dotted with some of the best wineries in the region, including Merricks Estate, Yal Yal Estate, and Stonier Wines.
For the discerning foodie, Merricks is in a prime position and close to several outstanding institutions, including acclaimed fine diner Doot Doot Doot in Merricks North and the funky winery and restaurant Rare Hare in Merricks North. Merricks General Wine Store is another beloved local hot spot for coffee, cakes, and a more relaxed vibe.

Merricks is located close to several primary and high schools in neighbouring suburbs, including Somers Primary School, Balnarring Primary School, Somerville Secondary College, and Mornington Secondary College.

The real estate options are diverse and cater to a range of budgets and needs, from expansive estates on large lots to charming timber cottages. Living in Merricks offers the opportunity to experience both the serenity of rural life and the charm of coastal living, making it an ideal location for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

Living in Merricks means enjoying the best of both worlds—being surrounded by stunning nature and vibrant local culture, all while having the peace and space that comes with living in this exclusive suburb.
