Need to destress and decompress? A session of floatation therapy at Beyond Rest will have you drifting serenely into whole body relaxation for 60 blissful minutes. From the moment you lay down in one of their glowing, futuristic pods, you’ll notice the worries of regular life slowly melt away.
The Epsom salt-soaked water has an anti-gravity effect, so you’ll feel like you’re floating weightlessly in air, and with external stimulation stripped, your mind can achieve true rest. From there you can let your thoughts wander or enjoy gentle light therapy and meditative music, before reemerging with newfound sensory awareness.

If traditional saunas aren’t your cup of tea, Nimbus & Co have got your back with a solution that’ll get you sweating out those toxins without feeling stifled. Their cutting-edge saunas use infrared light rather than steam to create a calming, still heat that purifies skin, relaxes muscles and leaves you with that coveted post-sweat glow. Better still, you can read, listen to music and even watch Netflix in their luxe wooden sauna suites until you’re ready to emerge.

Are you and your yoga practice on the same wavelength? Humming Puppy’s yoga studio literally hums – at a rate of 7.83 and 40 hertz, frequencies found to help ‘ground’ focus and stimulate peak performance. It’s a little curious to start, but within a few minutes feels totally natural, blocking out distractions and immersing you deeper into your practice. Better yet, at this luxe studio clean mats and towels are always provided, so you only need to bring yourself.

For the uninitiated, sound bathing is a deeply relaxing form of meditation that slows down the mind and releases stress through the vibration of sound. At Willow, they use quartz crystal singing bowls to soothe you into a peaceful, meditative state. This one-stop-shop for wellness takes a holistic approach to wellness, hosting fitness classes, spa treatments, Ayurvedic therapy and even a nutritious on-site café so you’ll never have to leave.

Bringing a little bit of Eastern zen to Melbourne’s CBD, Onsen Ma has replicated the traditional bathhouses of Japan. Deep, steamy and still, the elegant dark wood rooms include public baths for the game, but for ultimate repose we’d recommend a private bath and sauna. Sink in and feel the tension soaking out of your muscles as high heat boosts circulation. Afterwards, a deep tissue shiatsu massage will work out any lingering knots and aches before the day finishes with a cup of fragrant Japanese tea.

Our health is the sum of everything we do, which is why between the walls of this converted Victorian-style homestead they take a holistic approach to wellness that sees yoga, pilates and barre offered alongside nutrition, massage and physiotherapy. There’s even an onsite café with food prepared by a chef dietician, to be enjoyed in the courtyard or within the minimalist, light-filled studio.

If ice baths don’t scare you, consider cryotherapy, which takes wellness to the extreme by exposing brave partakers to sub-zero temperatures for three whole minutes. The payoff is a deeply effective anti-inflammatory benefit, which is why you’ll often see whole football teams in the waiting room. It’s also said to boost metabolism, immune function, athletic performance and even collagen production.
One thing’s for sure though, you won’t need coffee for the rest of the day, possibly even the rest of the week – after a session many report feeling “more alive” than they’ve ever been after a spin in those arctic temperatures.

For a spa treatment that goes above and beyond the everyday, this luxury Moroccan spa meets Roman bathhouse offers cleansing rituals drawn from centuries-old traditions. Their hammam rituals combine steam, exfoliation and massage to leave you relaxed and glowing, plus there’s the option to boost your wellness experience with colour therapy. Bathing you in alternately stimulating and calming vibrations of colour, it’s meant to realign your chakras as per Ayurvedic principles.
