This New Collingwood Hotel is All About Colour, Connection & Creature Comforts

You can forget sterile lobbies and pokey kitchens at Lyf.

Introducing: Lyf Collingwood

Melbourne has no shortage of luxury hotels catering to those who are willing to splash out for a weekend of pampering, but what if you're after something a little different?

Lyf Collingwood is the boutique brand's first hotel in Australia, and it's located in one of our city's most exuberant neighbourhoods. Part home away from home – part co-working space, it's a distinct departure from your standard hotel.

Catering to everyone from techy travellers to culture seekers (and their pets), Lyf's welcoming, modern ethos is evident from the minute you walk through the door. Everything is bright, inviting and considered, from the murals by artist Mysterious AI to the luminous glowing ball lights that take pride of place in the foyer.

The hotel is a hive of activity, abuzz with an eclectic mix of workers on Zoom calls, staff chatting to guests and couples sitting down for coffee with their dogs.

Lyf Collingwood: Facilities & Fitout

Lyf's studio apartments are on the smaller side, but they have all the creature comforts: smart TVs, private bathrooms, comfy beds and ample room for storage. Some also offer prime views from the bed of Collingwood's bustling urban landscape.

The communal kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook. For working travellers, Lyf has a big networking lounge that feels much more like a bustling co-working space than a hotel lobby.

If you're looking for somewhere to stay for your next girls' trip or staycation, Lyf is in walking distance to the bars and restaurants on Smith Street, Johnston Street's vibrant new arts precinct and the boutique shops on Gertrude.

Stop for brekkie downstairs at South of Johnston, a cosy café that's known for its generous portions of classic brunch fare. Then, borrow a cute vintage bike from Lyf's reception and explore the neighbourhood like a local.

Whip up lunch in Lyf's open-plan kitchen using herbs from the hotel's self-sufficient vertical garden and eat on the leafy outdoor terrace (if you can brave the Melbourne weather!)

Then, head out to Smith Street and make your way through some of Melbourne's best new bars and restaurants. Our top picks? Smith St Bistrot for dinner, followed by Runner Up Bar for drinks.

When it comes to inner-city holidays, it doesn't get much better than this.

Looking for more things to do when you stay in Collingwood? Stroll over to Brunswick Street and check out the vintage shops, take a long walk through Yarra Bend Park on one of Melbourne's best walks, and check out these vibey wine bars
