Sweet Bones

Sweet Bones

Sweet Bones was set up to cater to vegan diets, so it only makes sense that this café-turned-bakery offers tasty gluten-free items too.

Pick from dishes like the Nacho Mountain with smoky beans, the Bacon Cheeze Burger on a GF bun, and the Smashed Avo on gluten-free toast.

If you’re after gluten-free cakes in Canberra, Sweet Bones also does the occasional GF baked goods (think cinnamon buns and brownies) and can make gluten-free special occasion cakes on request - your guests won't know the difference!

Solita

Solita Pizzeria & Pasta Bar

Solita doesn’t just do some of the tastiest pizzas in Canberra, it also does some of the city’s best gluten-free pizzas! Try the more unique toppings including Halloumi & Potato, Prawn & Chorizo, Triple Cheese and Roast Pork & Caramelised Apple, or opt for the classics like Margherita, Funghi and Capricciosa.

The pizzas are coeliac-friendly, as the oven is dusted in rice flour.

There are plenty of gluten-free entrees and mains to choose from. Our pick? Glad you asked. We can't say no to the Eggplant Parmigiana.

Grease Monkey

Grease Monkey

Craving burgs? Grease Monkey in Braddon is one of our favourite burger spots and most of its indulgent burger menu is available gluten-free. Win.

We can’t go past the classic Greasy with a beef patty, lettuce, cheese, onion, pickles, GM relish and Greasy's sauce, with a side of fries, of course.

The gang at Grease Monkey often pop up to feed hungry souls at festivals and events around Canberra, so be sure to keep an eye on their socials to catch them around town!

Zimi’s Bakehouse

Zimi’s Bakehouse

Looking for a dedicated gluten-free bakery in Canberra? Zimi’s Bakehouse specialises in everything filo pastry, with treats like classic and Nutella baklava, spanakopita and different types of strudel available.

The best part? Every item on the menu is gluten-free (and also really, really good).

You’ll find Zimi’s popping up at markets around Canberra (and sometimes even Sydney) but you can also pre-order and pick up any of Zimi’s goods (including filo pastry if you want to DIY) from their Bungendore hub.

Fricken

Fricken

If you think you have to forgo fried chicken to avoid gluten, think again. Almost the entire menu at Braddon’s Fricken can be made gluten-free, including its fried chicken burgers.

You can’t go wrong with anything off the menu, but if we had to choose our top picks, they’d be the Fricken Box: crispy chicken strips topped with special Fricken sauce and served with fries and the Spicy Slaw Burger: crispy chicken breast fillet, cheese, slaw, pickles and sriracha served with fries.

Midnight Bar

Midnight Bar

Midnight is one of the newest bars to open in Canberra, and it comes complete with a great gluten-free menu. The vibe is sultry, the interior elegant and understated, and the food and drinks really something special.

As far as gluten-free options go, almost all of the small plates are made sans gluten, as are several of the large plates.

We recommend ordering the crispy cauliflower with kimchi mayo, the citrus-cured scallops with cucumber lime jus, radish and watercress, and the slow-roast pork belly with corn puree, jus and pork crackling.

Finish it off with the gluten-free almond soft chocolate cake with crème fraîche, and you've got yourself a feast.
