Living in Kingston
The Locals

Ideally positioned along Lake Burley Griffin and moments from Capital Hill, stylish Kingston is a shining light when it comes to urban living. Living in Kingston offers the best of both worlds, blending a vibrant social scene with serene lakeside beauty. There’s a lot going on, from barista-infused cafés to lively nightlife, and things are only set to improve.

Of late, all eyes have been on Kingston Foreshore. Development has been in full swing, bringing gleaming apartments and townhouses and a swathe of on-trend dining hot spots and bars. Walking paths and cycling trails hug the lake’s edge, and foreshore parks provide ample space to soak up the breezy lifestyle. Sundays, the Old Bus Depot Markets delivers on the goods – gourmet food stalls, one-off fashion and handmade crafts. Steps away is Canberra Glassworks, a cultural hub with exhibitions and glassblowing demonstrations.

Kingston Shopping Centre is a well-worn shopping strip that has everything you need, including Green Square, a meeting spot for locals. But it’s the area’s array of dining options, chic bars and laid-back pubs that fuels Kingston’s nightlife. And for those who crave outdoor action, there are plenty of parks and sporting facilities to choose from, such as Telopea Park, Jack Ross Park, Manuka Stadium, and Kingston Oval. The Jerrabomberra Wetlands are close, but it’s Lake Burley Griffin that provides the fun of kayaking, sailing, and paddle boating.

With its vibrant culture and outdoor charm, living in Kingston promises a lifestyle where everything you need is right at your doorstep. It’s no surprise this area continues to draw people in.

Café & Bar Scene

Kingston’s growing café, dining and bar scene has been one of the suburb’s biggest drawcards of late.

Kingston Foreshore

Kingston’s foreshore has it all – playgrounds, walking paths, cycling trails and a string of restaurants, cafes and bars. It’s the obvious choice for most events and festivals.

Schools

The area boasts some of the territory’s top schools, including Narrabundah College, St Edmund’s College and St Clare’s College. Locals also get preference for Forrest Primary, Red Hill Primary and Telopea Park School.

On-trend Kingston is a stylish locale. It’s also one of Canberra’s most densely populated suburbs, and with all that’s going on, it’s no wonder this compact suburb has broad appeal. Due to the prime location, politically-minded public servants are naturally drawn to this neck of the woods. Cashed-up professionals, who want an exclusive lifestyle by the water reside in the many shiny new apartments and townhouses that overlook Lake Burley Griffin. And growing families are quick to nab one of the brick cottages.
