Teneriffe Suburb Profile
Shedding its industrial past, Teneriffe is coming into its own, and the rest of Brisbane is sitting up and taking notice. Living in Teneriffe means enjoying a plethora of offbeat cafés, organic grocery stores, and trendy bars, making it a vibrant suburb on the banks of the river that in recent years has become one of Brisbane’s most talked-about neighbourhoods. Up until the last decade, historic Teneriffe was a remnant of Brisbane’s past. In 2010, it became a suburb in its own right. The area’s exclusive character and heritage architecture saw it transformed quickly into a densely populated residential area, boasting some of the best river views and access in Brisbane.
The main street, Vernon Terrace, is lined with historic Woolstore buildings that nod to its agricultural days. In recent years, these iconic buildings have been respectfully repurposed as residential precincts and have spawned an enclave of quirky office spaces, showrooms, antique stores, bars, and popular cafés. Living in Teneriffe also means being part of a community with many small-scale commercial businesses. More recently, some of those factories have been transformed into action-packed fitness dens. Adopting a health and fitness-focused lifestyle, Teneriffe has more than its fair share of yoga studios, crossfit venues, and highly-rated gym facilities and training groups.
