Balmoral Suburb Profile
Quiet by nature, this small riverside pocket of Brisbane measures just over 1.5 square kilometres. Highly residential, it looks to its neighbours for a café and food culture, complementing living in Balmoral’s inherent serene nature.
Access into the area is via Riding Road, which offers a handful of popular cafés, salons and lifestyle stores. Bulimba’s Oxford Street provides the broader area with an extensive offering of cafés, restaurants, grocery stores and eclectic boutiques, whilst Balmoral itself boasts open expanses of green parklands in the areas flanking the local Balmoral State School and the Bulimba Bowls Club.
Although living in Balmoral remains small in scale, the area saw a notable increase in growth after the Norman Creek Bridge was built in the 1850s, enabling more direct access to the area other than relying largely on ferry transport. Today, Balmoral still retains the quiet charm but with the added benefit of being able to drop in on its vibrant neighbours on a whim.
