The Château Set to Host White Lotus Season 4 & All Its Glamorous Chaos

For the first time, White Lotus won’t be filmed at a Four Seasons hotel.

White Lotus has always made its settings feel alive, but Season 4’s choice might just be its most narratively loaded yet. Château de La Messardière, a 19th-century palace perched above the Mediterranean, is officially the HBO series’ first primary location outside the Four Seasons, a deliberate move away from the Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand resorts that anchored Seasons 1–3.

Tucked into the hills of Saint‑Tropez and surrounded by the lush Ramatuelle vineyards, the château comes with a story as rich as its sun-soaked terraces. Built as a lavish wedding gift from a wealthy cognac merchant to his daughter and her husband, it was meant to celebrate love — a detail that might make for some dramatic irony in Season 4…

Over the decades, the palace had its momentous moments, and its not-so-glamorous days — changing hands, flirting with neglect, and even nearly abandoned. Its latest chapter began in 2019, when it joined the Airelles Collection. Extensive renovations followed, culminating in a grand reopening in 2021, fully restored and sparkling in all its Mediterranean glory.

Today, the property’s 86 rooms and suites feature private terraces, some with pools, and sweeping views of the gardens or the Bay of Pampelonne. Guests can float between a panoramic terrace pool, a quiet lap pool tucked among greenery, and an indoor spa pool at the Airelles Spa by Valmont, complete with hammam, sauna, fitness spaces, and pine-fringed yoga lawns. A short chauffeured ride in a Mini‑Moke or Rolls‑Royce takes you to the château’s private beach club at Jardin Tropézina, where sun loungers, umbrellas, and Mediterranean dining await.

On-site dining ranges from refined terrace tables to poolside plates, while tennis and padel courts, a Summer Camp-style Kids’ Club, and landscaped gardens make the palace feel like a world of its own. This seamless mix of historical grandeur and contemporary luxury sets the perfect stage for White Lotus to unleash its signature cocktail of glamour, chaos, and very polite tension.

While plot details remain tightly under wraps, filming runs April through October 2026, covering the château itself, other French Riviera spots, and Paris — a cinematic canvas that promises sun-soaked terraces, city streets, and everything in between. Confirmed cast members include Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka, and we’re crossing fingers for the return of a familiar face. Between palace terraces, Riviera beaches, and Parisian boulevards, Season 4 is shaping up as a visually stunning, multi-location French playground, and dare we call it this early… the best season to date.

If you want a taste before it hits screens, peak season rooms currently top out at €6,986 per night (around $12,300 AUD), while the lowest rates start at €1,150 (around $2,000 AUD). Or if you’re dreaming of a luxe holiday closer to home, check out Australia’s most exclusive travel experiences.
