Living in Prospect
The Locals

Neatly set out with a network of tree-lined streets and character bungalows, this inner-city neighbourhood is centred on the bustling Prospect Road. Living in Prospect offers the perfect blend of convenience and charm, with the strip having exploded in recent years due to an influx of trendy cafés and gourmet eateries, attracting visitors from near and far. Patrons perch themselves on colourful pavement seating, indulging in an assortment of cuisines that range from traditional Greek and Asian-fusion to authentic Italian and street food. Fashion boutiques, beauty services, and grocery shops round out the Prospect Road experience, making it a convenient and enjoyable destination for shopping and dining. Beyond the main road, the peaceful back-streets are lined with neat footpaths and rows of picket fences. Children are out in numbers, playing in the yard and hauling bulging backpacks to and from school. A volunteer-run bus service operates daily for those less-mobile, and the community garden off Wilcox Street is open for all to use. Locals relish in the creative arts scene, seen through the numerous art installations and wall murals dotted around the neighbourhood, many paying homage to the area’s industrial past.

During the summer months, residents are treated to an assortment of free evening activities under the foliage and fairy lights of Vine Street Plaza. Local music nights, a twilight cinema, African markets, and Latin dance parties are just some of the events on offer. For those who love relaxing over tapas and a glass of vino, living in Prospect provides plenty of options for informal, yet quietly refined, night-time fun. A handful of small bars are popping up along Prospect Road, and the construction of a new Art Deco cinema complex is underway, adding to the suburb’s family-friendly appeal.

Area Features

Vine Street Plaza

A place for locals to meet and relax or drift on to nearby eateries, the raised garden beds, hanging lanterns and a bevy of summertime activities have transformed Vine Street Plaza into a lively spot for community fun.

Street Art

Thoughtfully commissioned art adds warmth and flair to Prospect’s public spaces. Stobie poles are adorned with colourful paintings while an 18-year graffiti project by local artist Scott Coleman has transformed the once-drab Honeysuckle Lane into a bright and contemporary masterpiece.

Prospect Oval

Home to North Adelaide Football Club and Prospect Cricket Club, Prospect Oval on Menzies Crescent is a local drawcard, offering a capacious yet intimate space for community members to chant, cheer and engage in healthy weekend competition.

The people of Glen Osmond relish the quiet life. Part urban, part country, Glen Osmond attracts empty nesters and retirees as well as busy executives and families who love the green streets, top suburban facilities, and nearby exclusive schools.
