Hyde Melbourne Place

National Geographic has just dropped its annual traveller hotel awards, recognising 30 truly breathtaking new stays that deserve a spot on your travel bucket list.

The awards are split out over eight categories defining travel right now—think: wellness havens, remote escapes, food heroes and designer dens—and feature remarkable escapes from every corner of the globe, from Bali to Uganda. Among the awards, two Australian openings have been called out.

In Denmark, Western Australia, Heyscape’s newest collection of off-grid tiny cabins was named as one of this year’s best remote escapes. Nestled among towering karri forest, moments from the crashing waves of WA’s southern coast, these secluded hideaways invite guests to slow down and immerse themselves in nature without sacrificing on style or comfort.

And over east, Hyde Melbourne Place’s contemporary, art-led style scored it a spot under best designer dens. Rooftop dining, late-night clubs, dreamy design—the five-star boutique stay is as cool and creative as the city itself.
