Also known as the foodie capital of the New England region, Uralla is home to several cool-climate wineries, breweries and an abundance of farmgate produce. Then there is the Merino sheep with their superfine wool – a hit within the fashion industry. And if all this wasn't enough, locals delight in the area's pristine wilderness, namely the spectacular Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, where you will find Dangar Falls and Gorge. 

For families seeking greener pastures, they're never left wanting with the line-up of prestigious schools and a top-notch university in neighbouring Armidale. Plus, there are several major supermarkets, big brand stores and a wider selection of specialty stores in Armidale and Tamworth (an hour's drive from Uralla). 

Although tucked away, Uralla is surprisingly well-connected. Located along the New England Highway, Uralla is minutes from Armidale's airport, which boasts direct flights to Sydney and Brisbane. Plus, buses and a train station connects Uralla to other regional town centres. It's little wonder this countryside beauty is a real charmer.

Local produce, cool-climate wines and craft beer are highly celebrated throughout the region, especially at the annual Seasons of New England Expo, held every March. Boutique wineries, breweries and distilleries are sprinkled throughout the area, and farmgate produce is always highly sought-after. 

HISTORIC TOWN

A small town with a heart of gold, Uralla is one for history buffs. Gold mining put Uralla on the map, cementing its place in Australia's history. Explore the town's history and the folklore of Thunderbolt at local museums, along the heritage walks or try your luck panning for gold.

NATIONAL PARKS

One of Armidale's biggest drawcards is its access to pristine wilderness. Hikers, mountain bikers and rock climbers feel at home in New England National Park, The Gondwana Rainforests of Australia's World Heritage Area and the spectacular Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, which is where you will find Dangar Falls and Gorge. 

PRESTIGIOUS SCHOOLS

Although Uralla has its own primary school, neighbouring Armidale is somewhat of an education hub. Boasting prestigious boarding schools; The Armidale School, New England Girls School, and the Presbyterian Ladies College. Plus, the University of New England.
