Hungry for Something New? Here Are 3 Exciting New Restaurants & Pop-Ups We're Eyeing Off in 2023
Three exciting new foodie events in Sydney that have caught our eyes (and bellies).
Look, you don't need another reason to enjoy a meal out but we'll give one to you anyway. We're now into March (side note: how did that happen?!) and as always, the Sydney foodie scene is overflowing with exciting new restaurants and one-off international pop-ups that are booking up fast.
The post-new-year comedown is real, summer is now behind us (*sob) and it can be hard settling back into work after the summer holidays. If you don't have the means to organise your next escape just yet, a fun feed out could be just what you need to get a pep in your step. So, if you need something to look forward to, here are three exciting new restaurants and pop-up events in Sydney that we are desperately counting down to! Drop this in the group chat, throw some dates, and start browsing the menu...
1. For The Euro-Summer Dreamer: St Siandra
How do Seven spice Moreton Bay Bugs, “en brochette” skewers of Clarence River baby octopus and Skull Island tiger prawns washed down with spritzes on tap sound? Oh, and did we mention your own private beach to enjoy them? Well then mark your diaries because St Siandra is coming to The Spit on Sydney's North Shore in February 2023.
At the helm is former Nomad head chef Sam McCallum, bringing his signature Mediterranean flare to the new beachfront restaurant and bar. Kurtis Bosley will be serving up cocktails and the chic Amalfi Coast-style interiors were designed by Sally Taylor of Felix and Queen Chow Manly so you just know they'll be great for the 'gram. Oh, and don't worry, if you plan to arrive by boat (because why not), they will have two private moorings.
Opening March 9 2023, bookings open now.
75 Lower Parriwi Road, The Spit, Mosman
2. For The Memory Maker: L’Enclume Residency at Bathers’ Pavilion
This is one you don't want to miss! Three-Michelin-starred UK restaurant L'Enclume will be setting up a VIP residency at the Bathers' Pavilion for five weeks only. It marks the first time internationally renowned British chef, restaurateur and farm-to-table pioneer Simon Rogan has showcased one of the world's most incredible dining experiences right on the shores of Balmoral Beach.
The menu will reflect the L’Enclume ethos of seasonal and produce-led fare using the incredible and unique ingredients that are abundant in Australia and seasonal at the time. Diners will enjoy an eight-course menu with snacks and petit fours as well as a wine list and exclusive cellar list.
While the menu will remain a surprise until the night, you can expect the same magic L’Enclume dishes are known for, with slight local adaptations. Rogan and his team are also sounding out produce from areas like Thredbo River trout, Fraser Island mud crab, freshwater marron and Murray Cod.
4 The Esplanade, Balmoral Beach, Mosman
Bookings can be made at the Bathers’ Pavilion website and diners are encouraged to book as soon as possible to avoid missing out
$420 for eight courses plus snacks and petit fours
3. For the Splurger: Mirazur Beyond Borders at The Gantry
Food fans rejoice because international three-Michelin-starred restaurant Mirazur, which has its original roots in Menton, France, and was crowned the world’s best restaurant in 2019, is popping up in Sydney next month. Setting up shop at stunning waterfront location The Gantry seems like the only location for such decadence.
At $685 a head, you'll be taken on a once-in-a-lifetime culinary journey exploring the freshest and most seasonal ingredients, sourced both locally and from the Mediterranean region. Chef Mauro Colagreco will spotlight everything from delicate seafood to more hearty meat dishes. Mirazur Beyond Borders also boasts an extensive wine list, featuring a range of premium and unique wines from home and abroad. If you’re keen to add on the wine pairing, it starts at $210.
