KILLARA

GET TO KNOW
THE AREA

Pretty and peaceful, Killara is all about beautiful homes and high-end living. Bordered by two national parks, and with plenty of green space in-between, locals have ample room to stretch out and enjoy the serene surrounds. Add competitive schools and quick access to thriving hubs into the mix, and you have a suburb that many families aspire to.

Lifestyle

Period homes and plenty of greenery, Killara is one good looking neighbourhood. Founded as a gentlemen’s suburb, Killara has no commercial area per se. Where it lacks in food and retail options, it more than makes up for in golfing facilities, bushland and stunning homes with lush gardens.

Bordered by Lane Cove National Park to the west and Garigal National Park to the east, Killara has plenty of bush trails to explore. And those lucky enough to live close by relish in the wildlife. The local council takes a lot of pride in its well-maintained parks that are sprinkled throughout the neighbourhoods.

Families have access to many prestigious schools in the area, and on weekends, sports are a regular fixture; soccer, hockey, cricket, tennis, and the beautiful Killara Golf Club which is the crown jewel of Killara. Premier golfing facility with lush grounds and lovely views – a meeting point since 1899.

Along Pacific Highway, Greengate Hotel is a favourite hangout. There are a few stores as well, but blink and you will miss them. Locals are never left wanting though. Chatswood and Macquarie, both boasting thriving shopping complexes with entertainment and dining facilities, are a short drive away, while Killara Train Station has commuters into the city in under 30-minutes.

Big houses and with even bigger budgets to match, Killara is where Sydney’s elite and their families come to enjoy the more beautiful things in life.

Neighbours

Killara was, and still is, an aspirational suburb. Rarely do you see first home buyers moving into the area; instead, families with executive parents at the helm have settled in Killara. And those who have long enjoyed a comfortable lifestyle stay well into retirement.

PARKS

There is no shortage of green space because, in Killara, the parks are just as revered as the homes that surround them. Scattered throughout, locals have their pick of small neighbourhood reserves, parks with fenced-in playgrounds and extensive playing fields. Killara also backs onto Lane Cove National Park in the west and Garigal National Park in the East.

SCHOOLS

Well-positioned on Sydney’s Upper North Shore, families take full advantage of the prestigious schools on offer in and around Killara. Killara Public School and Beaumont Road Public School cater well to local families, while Killara High School ranks as one of the top performing non-selective government secondary schools in the state. Next door is Ravenswood School for Girls, and further down the road is Pymble Ladies College, Knox Grammar, Abbotsleigh School and Roseville College.
