Living in Bondi Junction
The Locals

Bondi Junction packs a real punch when it comes to urban living. Designed to be a place where you can live, work, and play any day of the week, locals never have to venture too far from home. A cluster of high-rise commercial and residential complexes gives way to a compact junction that is all about shopping. Having evolved around its shopping district, it’s no wonder living in Bondi Junction has perfected the shopping experience – boutique designer stores, household brands, pedestrian malls, and open-air markets – locals only have to tumble out of bed to be first in line during sales season. The dining scene here doesn’t disappoint either. Dumplings, yum cha, or European fare; there are plenty of pop-ups and local dining institutions catering to a community that demands fresh wholesome food, but which also likes to indulge in the decadent. Old-fashioned pubs are a reminder of the neighbourhood’s working-class roots and are popular haunts for locals as they cheer on the Sydney Roosters rugby league team. Bordered by the expansive green space of Centennial Park on one side and the world-famous Bondi Beach on the other, and with access to a bustling transport interchange that connects locals to the Sydney CBD and the greater Eastern Suburbs region, it’s no wonder living in Bondi Junction makes residents feel like they have it all.

Area Features

Centennial Park

Known as the People’s Park, this 189 hectares of expansive green space is one of Sydney’s gems. A place to picnic with family and friends or get the heart rate pumping by cycling, jogging or horse riding. During the warmer months, you can watch a favourite movie at the Moonlight Cinema.

Centennial Park has an Education Precinct with rangers who help to educate children and adults about the environment, sustainability and recycling.

Shopping

Spreading out over several blocks, a mix of specialty and brand shops vie for the attention of shoppers. Westfield has a commanding presence while Oxford Street is part pedestrian mall which is transformed into an open-air market on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Bondi Beach

Bondi Beach is busy all year. Surfers can be seen bobbing in the deep blue no matter the weather, festivals can feature on weekends, Bondi Icebergs Pool retains its dominance at the southern end of the beach and migrating whales capture the attention of the crowds on the headlands.

Transport

Situated at the end of the Eastern Suburbs train line, Bondi Junction is well connected, with regular trains departing for Sydney’s CBD. On street level, the busy bus interchange connects locals with the greater Eastern Suburbs area.

Young professionals and empty nesters alike haunt Bondi Junction. Amongst them you’ll find a strong expat community and those who are avid fitness buffs leading a health-conscious lifestyle.
