THE AREA

Sitting proudly in the stunning New England region of New South Wales, Armidale proves that you really can have it all – spacious homes, sprawling parklands and top-rated schools. Then throw in old-world architecture, historic country pubs, homegrown produce and spectacular world-heritage national parks, and you will quickly see that it's impossible not to fall in love with this regional enclave.

Lifestyle

Smack bang in the middle of Sydney and Brisbane (inland, that is), Armidale is a regional hub that celebrates the area's natural beauty and changing seasons. A well-connected community nurtures wide, leafy streets and heritage buildings, and the plentiful green space provides plenty of room to spread out.

In the middle of Armidale is the main shopping hub. A pedestrian mall stretches three blocks, and the two shopping plazas – Central Armidale and Armidale Plaza – are home to speciality stores and cafes that champion local produce. Farmers' Markets bring together local growers, and peppered throughout town are country pubs. Then there is the selection of vineyards and breweries that truly delight.

The Armidale region is also home to some incredible wilderness, which is not only pretty to look at but is a veritable playground for hikers, rock climbers and mountain bikers. Among several national parks is also The Gondwana Rainforests of Australia's World Heritage Area. The spectacular Oxley Wild Rivers National Park is where you will find Dangar Falls and Gorge.

Then there is the line-up of prestigious boarding schools that families from afar send their children to; The Armidale School, New England Girls School, and the Presbyterian Ladies College. Plus, there is the University of New England which is highly regarded.

Although seemingly tucked away, Armidale is, in fact, well-connected. Along the New England Highway, Armidale boasts an airport with direct flights to Sydney and Brisbane, a network of buses and a train station that connects to other regional town centres. It's little wonder this countryside beauty is a cut above the rest.

NATIONAL PARKS

Arguably one of Armidale's biggest drawcards is its access to pristine wilderness. Hikers, mountain bikers and rock climbers feel at home in New England National Park, The Gondwana Rainforests of Australia's World Heritage Area, and the spectacular Oxley Wild Rivers National Park is where you will find Dangar Falls and Gorge.

PRESTIGIOUS SCHOOLS

Families in Armidale are spoiled for choice when it comes to schools. Somewhat of an education hub, Armidale boasts prestigious boarding schools; The Armidale School, New England Girls School, and the Presbyterian Ladies College. Plus, several primary schools, including the Waldorf Steiner School and the University of New England.

FOOD & WINE

Local produce is highly celebrated, especially among cafes and restaurants sprinkled throughout. Armidale Farmers Market delights in homegrown produce, and the cool-climate vineyards and breweries are an attraction within themselves.
