Where to Find the Best Breakfast in Perth

Inconspicuously nestled on many a suburban corner, city laneway or waterside locale, there is an abundance of tasty cafes to delve into for the best breakfast in Perth.

Little Bay Perth
Little Bay Perth

While on a quest to reveal the best breakfast in Perth, from charming Subiaco to bustling Fremantle, we also discovered that Perth is potentially the café capital of the nation. We would like to declare we were too busy sampling the most important meal of the day to neither confirm nor deny this outlandish claim.

Ranging from eggy classics to baked goodies, we’ve even managed to be inspired by our Asian neighbours for the best breakfast in Perth.

Canteen Trigg
Canteen Trigg

Canteen Trigg

This bright and airy beachside cafe oozes the authentic, laid-back coastal vibe of Trigg, with a delicious mix of fresh, locally sourced breakfast and brunch options, alongside excellent coffee. There’s plenty of seating inside, you can grab a table outside to savour your coffee in the sunshine, or take your tray down to the sand, only steps away, and enjoy with a side of unbeatable ocean views. Menu standouts include the smashed avo toast (served with a crunchy dukkah) and the hotcakes with berry compote and mascarpone whip.

Butterman
Butterman

Butterman

Located at Perth Airport, Butterman is elevating the airport food game to new, delicious heights. We’ve finally got the perfect spot to grab a pre-flight breakfast or brunch that’s a far cry from stale and boring. The focaccia is freshly baked in-house, the flavour-packed menu is crafted with premium produce and there’s a focus on the ingredient that’s always been the true hero of the morning - butter. Indulge in items such as the tiramisu ice cream sandwich, the brisket stack, the buttermilk fried chicken burger, the prawn puttanesca pasta or fan favourite - the Reuben sandwich.

Eggspot

Eggspot

Known for its innovative take on the classic eggs for brekkie, Eggspot has fast become a go-to breakfast spot (and an exceptional hangover cure). Eggspot sling their delicious egg burger creations from the Freo Markets and their storefront in North Perth. With mouthwatering combos like kransky and hash brown, or fried chicken and bacon, it’s no wonder this place is such a hit - hangover or not.

Bib & Tucker
Bib & Tucker

Bib & Tucker

An oceanside table with Immaculate views across Leighton beach, a relaxed vibe and excellent coffee awaits at this North Fremantle favourite. Bib & Tucker offer all day dining, but there are some all-time classics on the breakfast menu that you definitely need to try. We can’t go past the zucchini and haloumi fritters or the Turkish eggs. SO good.

Little Bay

Little Bay

With its bright and airy ambiance, gorgeous white aesthetic and spectacular views of Waterman’s Bay, it’s hard to beat Little Bay for a leisurely and indulgent weekend breakfast. Sit outside to enjoy the salty ocean air with your coffee, or grab a table inside and watch the world go by through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The menu is full of mouthwatering options, from buttermilk fried chicken waffles, to lighter options like avocado smash.

Good Things Cafe Perth
Good Things

Good Things

This Fremantle cafe is all Good Things! This light-filled, friendly spot is one of our all time favourites, for the fluffiest, diner-style and seasonal buttermilk hotcakes, the creamiest coffee and some of the best eggs in town. The poached eggs with hollandaise, pickled zucchini and thick cut sourdough are undeniable, as are the Korean sambal-scramble. Add a side of fried chicken to anything and you really can't go wrong here.

Nogi Lane
Nogi Lane

Nogi Lane

Nogi Lane is a modern neighbourhood cafe in north-reaching Dianella, where you'll find a talented chef playing on brunch classics by way of his Burmese and Indian heritage. Think eggs benedict with a cardamom-spiked hollandaise; prawn toast with garlic chive omelette, heirloom tomatoes on toast with stracciatella and avocado, and a masterful sticky date pudding baked pancake topped with caramel popcorn, coconut caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Coffee is by Five Senses. For a breakfast in Perth with a difference, you don't want to miss out on a visit to Nogi Lane.

Servo Leederville Perth Cafe
Servo Leederville

Servo Leederville

Slinging out some of the best breakfast in Perth to a steady stream of hungry hordes on weekends only, Servo Leederville evokes an all-day aphrodesia. Their menu masters a balance in health, in hedonism, in fun and in flavour.

Settle into the bright and bustling venue, taking cues from its industrial setting, and order up something for everyone - from smoked shakshuka with cumin and tahini butter and a beef brekky burger with bacon, fried egg, cheese, ranch and chipotle, to chia seed porridge with a blueberry compote, and stracciatella on charred toast with avocado, broccolini, edamame, chilli oil and kale chips. Turbo-charge your brunch fix with the pork katsu, served with creamed corn, poached egg and bulldog sauce - you won't regret it.

Home to specialty coffee and the best pancake stacks in the business, Laika is a café, roastery and morning destination from some of the best breakfast in Perth. Come chill in their relaxed surrounds and enjoy loaded croissants brimming with whipped ricotta, salmon, yuzu, dill and capers, chilli crab scramble and homemade crumpets with berry compote, grilled banana and vanilla mascarpone. Mary Street Bakery
Mary Street Bakery

Mary Street Bakery

Purveyor of fine salted caramel doughnuts, fried chicken buttermilk pancakes and some of the best soft eggs in town, cult-favourite Mary Street Bakery needs little in the way of introduction to Perth's most enlightened breakfast-goers. Now boasting multiple locations all over Perth, we recommend heading to the corner store charm of the café's OG Highgate digs. With its split level interiors, it's a light-filled and ambient spot for you to tuck in to some of the best breakfast in Perth... with a side of pressed juice, of course!

Dank Pizza

Dank Pizza

Pull up a milk crate and start the day the Italian way... with pizza for breakfast! It might not seem like the most natural pairing, but Dank Pizza are doing something right with their Saturday morning pop-up outside of Twin Peaks' roastery in Morley.

It's an all out pizza party with these perfect-for-one pies, made all the more tantalising with a side of expertly crafted coffee. Get your fill of flavours ranging from pepperoni and traditional margarita, to breakfast-like egg and prosciutto and mushroom, cheese and truffle.

This adorable spot has got to be one of the best neighbourhood cafes in Perth. With its eclectic décor, excellent coffee and lush, leafy surrounds, brunch at Piccolo’s Corner is an absolute delight. Island Market Trigg Perth
Island Market Trigg

Island Market Trigg

Enjoy a side of surf with your breakfast on WA’s famed turquoise coastline in the seaside suburb of Trigg. Surprisingly, there aren’t many eateries with direct beach access in Perth, but the only thing the Island Market Trigg is guilty of is their naughty morning cocktails. A Cheeky Bellini is a sparkling start to the day with Five Senses coffee, waffles and sardines on toast with the water practically lapping at your feet.

Viaje Coffee

Viaje Coffee

When you slip into Beaux Lane off Mt Lawley’s main café strip, you’ll need to pop out into the carpark to discover Viaje Coffee; if there’s any confusion, it’s the cute pink building. Their evolving breakfast menu includes waffles with avocado smash and miso mushroom scrambled eggs. Since opening in September 2021, they’ve already created a loyal following, and if you can’t secure a table, their takeaway house-made pastries and coffee should keep you going.

Satchmo Cafe Perth
Satchmo Café

Satchmo Café

You can almost hear distinct New York accents in the distance when ordering off the Jewish menu at Satchmo Café. Matzo ball chicken soup, knish and bagels sit nicely beside New Orleans classics like Louisiana gumbo and the Buffalo fried chicken sandwich. This beatnik North Perth haven serves breakfast all day and is wildly entertaining on Sunday mornings with live blues and jazz, rightly so since Louis Armstrong inspired this charming café.

Shop 1, 400 Fitzgerald Street, North Perth

Roasting Warehouse Cafe Perth
Roasting Warehouse

Roasting Warehouse

This converted petrol station turned café raises the breakfast stakes in South Fremantle’s café-mecca. The re-imagined eggs benny Chan features soft-boiled eggs coated in panko and roti while the Asian-inspired pork omelette is a revelation. The all-day brunch menu accompanies their unique small-batch coffee blends and all-day cocktails - surely espresso martinis are acceptable before noon?
