This New Robotic Vacuum May Just Be the Ultimate Cleaning Hack

Time-saving, easy-to-use and surprisingly chic, the new Dreame 40 is what clean house dreams are made of.

I won't lie: it took me a little while to jump on the robot vacuum bandwagon.

When I finally did, I experienced the nightmare scenarios (think a dog and a rug and a big, big mess) you only read about in the more bizarre corners of the internet.

So when given the chance to try Dreame Technology's latest innovation - the X40 Ultra - I was sceptical, to say the least.

Would this robo-vac meet the same fate as the ones before it? Would it be "smart enough" to not get stuck under furniture, roll off ledges and be able to pick up dog hair from the most tricky of corners?

The short answer? Yes.

The Dream X40 Ultra may just be the ultimate cleaning hack and the best robotic vacuum on the market.

Here's why I'm a complete convert, and why this smart, industry-leading device is worth the investment.

Effortless Cleaning: Dreame X40 Ultra Features

The X40 Ultra arguably sets a new standard for cleaning (and clean living), with a range of revolutionary features that make maintaining a sparkling home easier than ever.

The X40 Ultra comes with bionic robotic arm technology, with extendable SideReach that makes tackling tight corners a breeze.

The brushes lift and extend during simultaneous sweeping and mopping to ensure comprehensive coverage of the narrowest crevices and tightest corners.

The unparalleled suction picks up hair, dirt, dust and other debris, with an optimised air duct design to ensure passageways remain unobstructed for a smooth cleaning session. The Anti-Tangle TriCut Brush is also a heaven-send for pet owners, with the meticulously placed cutting heads safeguarding rugs and carpets and slicing through tangled hair to prevent it from tangling in the brushes.

After just one loop of my home, dog hair (and with two pups in my space, there is a lot) that had been stuck in corners and cracks was completely gone, as were the sneaky crumbs that never fail to appear after any trip to the kitchen.

Surprisingly sleek and chic, the all-in-one, self-cleaning base station of the X40 Ultra is a game-changer.

The vacuum can take itself "home", remove its oscillating mop pads, wash and dry them, refill its water tank, empty the bin and reattach the clean mop pads as needed.

If the thought of wet and dirty mop pads makes you squirm, never fear: the rotary mops are blow-dried for 2 hours with warm air after cleaning to prevent mildew (and unpleasant odours) from forming.

The best part? The 3.2-litre dustbin in the base station requires emptying only once every 75 days, so you can truly "set and forget" and let the cleaning gadget do its thing.

After the exasperation of having to empty my stick vacuum bin more than once during a regular whiz around my home, this is a welcome change.

A Lazy Girl's Dream: Why We Love the Dreame X40 Ultra

While the suction and cleaning power is unrivalled by any other robot vacuum I've tried, there's one feature that truly won me over: the intelligent RGB camera

Not only does it identify tricky and sticky stains to scrub them off the floor precisely, but it also adjusts the cleaning method to suit the space and level of mess.

It rapidly mapped my multi-room (and multi-surface) home, identifying high-traffic areas and performing a neat, organised cleaning pattern to ensure every space was spick and span.

The smart recognition and 3D structured light allow the X40 Ultra to intelligently identify - and avoid - over 120 types of objects, from shoes to cables, rogue socks and even pet messes.

(If you've ever arrived home to a robot-meets-pet nightmare like me,  this is truly a revolution.)

There's also a Pet Recognition Mode, so it identifies (and avoids) pets while they share the same space, and snaps the cutest mini videos and photos of your fur baby while it cleans.

You can also remotely control the X40 Ultra via the app - with full video capabilities - so you can check in on your pet while you're away from home, and even communicate with them with the in-built microphone.

So, is the Dreame X40 Ultra worth its $2,799 price tag? For those willing to make the investment, the answer is yes.

I've been able to set the X40 Ultra for a scheduled clean every single day, and its quiet and efficient zip around my house has made it feel cleaner than it has in years.

Consider it the ultimate cleaning hack for a hassle-free home.

The Dreame X40 is available now here for $2,799. This includes a three-year warranty and bonus accessories pack, including a free TriCut Brush.
