The 5 Markets of the Inner West
Whether you’re a bohemian or a city slicker, markets no longer discriminate, and sourcing organic produce to fill the fridge is now a Saturday morning ritual for most Sydneysiders. So here are the best morning haunts for those needing their market fix in the inner west.
Balmain Markets
One of Sydney’s oldest markets (the third, actually), St Andrew’s Balmain Market may be on the smaller side, but it's as bold as Kirribilli and Bondi. From clothes and artisan goods to homemade chutneys, marmalades and delicious foods there’s an array of delicious stalls scattered throughout the market. Whether fashion or food is on your mind it’s a village feeling here, with hessian bags and smiles welcome from 9:00am to 3pm every Saturday.

Rozelle Collectors Markets
An open-air market held in the grounds of Rozelle Public School, Rozelle Collector Market is brimming with second hand and antique finds. Here you can browse clothing, art, music and collectibles while listening to local entertainers. Artisan providores are also a feature, but if you’re looking for a more substantial feed head down along Darling Street. Open both days of the weekend from 9am until 3pm.

Orange Grove Market
Tucked away in Lilyfield, Orange Grove Market is teeming with fresh produce, meaning it is a regular stop over on the local shopping trail. It’s a weekly gourmet food and produce market that specialises in certified organic produce, plus eco products, crafts, plants and flowers. It’s held every Saturday from 8am to 1pm. Our advice? Pick up a one of the famous bacon and egg rolls.

Marrickville Organic Markets
An inner west institution and a foodie’s hangout, the Marrickville Markets attracts Sydneysiders from all over. Open from 9am to 3pm every Sunday, the market specialises in organic produce and all things eco-friendly. Held inside the Addison Road Centre in Marrickville, there’s activities to keep the kids entertained while you enjoy the Sunday shop, with jumping castles, pony rides and (of course) babycinos on offer.

Glebe Markets
A bohemian hangout, Glebe Market has a well-earned reputation for being a place to pick up a unique item, be it fashion or homewares. One off pieces from artists, designers and sculptors themselves or second-hand wares, it can all be found here. And for those simply wanting good food and tunes, there’s food stall and free music from midday. Held at Glebe Public School every Saturday from 10am until 4pm.
