For the Foodies: Sydney Food & Drink News
The most exciting food news in Sydney right now.
The Sydney food scene is THRIVING. As we wrap up the year, it's fair to say 2024 has been one of Sydney's best years for new openings. With a swathe of talented chefs choosing to make their home in our harbour city and bringing us the best flavours from around the world and locally, it's never been a better time to be a Sydney sider. If you're keen to stay abreast of the must-know food news in Sydney, we're here to help.
The One-Ingredient Spritz We'll Be Serving This Festive Period
Summer has hit Sydney and it's hit hard. At the end of the day we're craving icey and refreshing bevvies and the Crosser Orange Spritz is ticking all our boxes. A non-vintage sparkling base meets aromatic orange bitters in what we're dubbing the easiest summer drink. Pour it straight from the bottle over ice with no mixers needed!
Icons Icebergs and Golden Century to Open Outposts at Crown Sydney
If you thought 2024 was done with incredible openings, think again. Two Sydney stalwarts are set to open their doors at Crown Sydney this summer so consider your Christmas wishes granted. The long-awaited reopening of Golden Century will see a revival of signature dishes from XO pippies, live lobster and Peking duck. Those after a decadent yum cha lunch will also be in for a treat.
Icebergs Harbour Bar will open this December with favourites like the Iceburger, and fried school prawns with aioli and lime on rotation.
Bookings open for Golden Century in December so be sure to get in if you fancy dining on the city's finest Cantonese this summer.

Cult Italian Gelato Brand Rivareno is Opening in Bondi Beach this Summer!
There's a reason Rivareno boasts a 20-strong queue outside their Barangaroo store on a Friday night and it has everything to do with the incredible flavours and the fact that each tray is produced just hours before it's served. Well, we've got good news! You'll now get to feast on this creamy treat ocean-side with the opening of Rivereno's new Bondi Beach store. But where? Stay tuned!

Owner of Cult Cafe Blackwood to Open a New Concept Eatery
While 2024 has been a wild ride for new restaurant openings in Sydney, 2025 is looking like it will kick off just the same. Fun! One of the first cabs off the rank is Sana, a Mediterranean-inspired fast-casual eatery set to open in South Eveleigh come Feb. Wondering why we're so excited? Sana is the brainchild of Blackwood owner Daniel Sorridimi and Sydney-based chef Joel Bennetts.
Whilst maintaining a casual and playful atmosphere, Sana will be serving up plenty of elevated extras from house-made pickles and customisable bowls with an eye to health and ease. Keep your eyes peeled — this will be your new one-stop protein shop.
Coming February 2025

Palazzo Salato Introduces a New Pistachio Dish Born From a Family Recipe
Sydney is having a love affair with pistachio and we do so love to see it. One of our favourite Italian spots has just introduced a pistachio dish to the dessert menu and it is likely our favourite iteration to date. The torta della nonna is made using a beloved family recipe and pairs perfectly with an after-dinner limoncello. Head in whilst it's still available!
Harbourfront Seafood's New Summer Menu Puts a Fresh Twist on Seaside Dining

From twists on Italian classics like tagliatelle featuring sea urchin cream, fresh sea urchin roe and Avruga caviar, to thoroughly Australian takes on dining with an Outback Grill featuring chargrilled kangaroo striploin and crocodile tail paired with native ingredients, this is seaside dining with a difference.
Renowned for delivering premium seafood with a contemporary feel in the heart of one of Sydney’s most historic precincts, the restaurant's new menu celebrates the abundance of local produce the season has to offer.

Sip on Mini Martinis at Folly's Bar & Bistro
Another trend we're loving right now is the mini martini moment. We love that you can sample your way around in terms of flavours with less of a commitment and that they come in at an approachable price, too.
If you're keen to get amongst some mini martinis yourself, head to Folly's Bar & Bistro where you can score three different flavours for $12 a pop. They've got dry martinis, dirty martinis and Gibson martinis ready and waiting.

Aussie Icon Aria Introduces a Three-Course Menu
Post impressive 25th birthday celebrations, fine dining destination Aria is keen to get even more guests (and a new generation of diners) in to experience some culinary magic with the introduction of a two-course menu. The new menu ($120pp), available for lunch and pre-theatre dining, is part of a complete shift from the offering of a four-course and seven-course tasting menu. Guests can now choose between two-course, three-course, five-course and an 8-course dining menu. Another focus will be a shift from seasonal menus towards micro-seasonal menu changes, allowing Aria to prioritise hyperlocal and fresh produce even further. No time like the present!
