At first glance, Dromana may be quiet and unassuming, but scratch at the surface a little and you’ll discover a wonder of food, wine and nature. Overlooking the bay and its lush foreshore, this compact town taps into the region’s finest offerings.
Running alongside Point Nepean Road is the bay on one side and the village on the other.
Latrobe Reserve hugs the shoreline, with Dromana Beach boasting calm waters and a picture-perfect pier. Walking tracks, picnic areas and a designated camping area add to the foreshore’s appeal. Across the road from the bay is the village with cafés and restaurants, many of which champion the paddock-to-plate ethos that the region is renowned for.

And although the streets in town are lined with family homes, head a little further out and Dromana adopts a more rural lifestyle where acreage is the norm. Wineries are also a pretty big deal around here – Hickenbotham of Dromana, Trofeo Estate and Crittenden Estate – all with cellar doors and a spot to indulge in dishes celebrating local produce.
Providing a beautiful backdrop to all this is Arthurs Seat State Park, the highest point on the Mornington Peninsula. Walking trails are in abundance with views across the bay and hinterland at every turn. It’s a popular local attraction, as is the Dromana Drive-in cinema and Sunday market.

WINERIES
Mornington Peninsula has a well-earned reputation for its wines, and rightfully so. Dromana alone boasts more than 20 wineries and several vineyards, including Crittenden Estate, Hickenbotham of Dromana and Trofeo Estate, have cellar doors for tasting.
DROMANA FORESHORE
Quiet and secluded, there are plenty of spots to relax along Dromana’s foreshore thanks in large part to the reserve that adjoins the beach. The calm beaches are ideal for swimming, and the pier makes for some decent fishing. The designated camping area is popular during summer, and the walking tracks are well-trodden year-round.
ARTHURS SEAT STATE PARK
Don your walking shoes and hit the trails of Arthurs Seat State Park. Not only are the views across the hinterland and bay impressive but the surrounding bushland is just begging to be explored.
DROMANA VILLAGE
The village may be small, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in cafés and restaurants. Dromana Drive-in cinema is always a hit with the family and the Sunday market is the biggest weekly garage sale on the Mornington Peninsula with fresh produce, clothing and second-hand goods.
