How to Boost Your Energy Naturally

From managing your stress levels to eating regular meals, these are the most-effective ways to boost your energy levels, naturally.

Energy. We all need it, yet none of us seem to have it. The idea of having boundless energy seems like such a foreign concept, yet with some small lifestyle changes, you too can have it all (energy-wise).

We spoke with corporate nutritionist Hannah Fell, from Hannah Fell Nutrition, to get her expertise around stabilising your energy levels. From balancing your blood sugar levels to getting a good night's sleep, here are 5 tips to help boost your energy, naturally.

1. Eat Regular, Balanced Meals

Whether you eat breakfast, intermittent fast or are a strict three meals a day kind of person, the key is routine. Eating at the same time each day will help support your body's blood sugar levels and keep those energy levels stable, all day long.

When preparing your main meals, focus on balancing carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats, with an abundance of vegetables. A balanced meal will help stabilise your blood sugar levels, increase your energy levels and support mental clarity and productivity levels.

2. Get Smart With Your Snacks

If you love to snack, make sure they are high in protein to satiate hunger. This way, you will feel fuller for longer, and your energy levels will be better supported between meals. High protein snacks will also help you avoid sugary snacks whilst cooking dinner. (Come on, we've all been there).

3. Listen to Your Body

Ever felt shaky, dizzy, a bit clammy or just generally fatigued? That could be your blood sugar screaming out for help. When we don’t eat frequent meals, our blood glucose drops (glucose is our bodies main energy source) and we can start to feel anxious, sweaty, moody, shaky and dizzy…not to mention hangry!
To stop this from happening, it’s a simple fix. Eat! It sounds silly but it is so often the first thing to go when we get busy. 

4. Sleep, Sleep, Sleep

Sleep is one of the most important things to consider when you start to feel like you have no energy. The straightforward formula dictates:

No sleep = no energy

Simple right? It’s a bit more in-depth than that. A night here or there without sleep won’t cause you too much harm, but a continuous lack of quality sleep can lead to all sorts of drama in the long run.

5. Get Serious About Stress Management

Stress is one of the biggest drivers of illness. Stress is inflammatory on our bodies, not only physically but also mentally, affecting our mental and emotional state. Stress leads to high cortisol levels, our stress hormone, which can have an indirect impact on blood sugar levels, brain fog and fatigue – goodbye energy! Highly stressed?
