The Best Restaurants in Bondi for an Indulgent Foodie Experience

This iconic beachside suburb is overflowing with amazing foodie hotspots. Here are the best restaurants in Bondi.

Promenade

A bustling beachside neighbourhood in Sydney's east, Bondi's vibrant and varied crowd is part of its charm. From fitness junkies, and young families to surfies and corporate highflyers, it's a melting pot of people matched by its equally diverse offering of eateries.

In recent years, the food scene in Bondi has really gone to a whole other level and is home to some of Sydney's most iconic institutions (Sean's, Icebergs and Totti's, we're looking at you). Read on for our edit of the best restaurants in Bondi.

Easy Tiger

Few combinations in life surpass that of Asian cuisine paired with an ice-cold beer. Easy Tiger in Bondi is offering both in abundance. Home to Bondi Brewing Co, the space hosts three fermenting tanks so expect the freshest brews.

As for food, it's all about sharing here. Expect reimagined classics like braised beef rendang, Hainan chicken fried rice and yellow curry barramundi alongside fresh takes on Southeast Asian cuisine.

Totti's

Totti's

When it comes to the best restaurants in Bondi, Totti's is always going to be high on the list. The Merivale star at The Royal has become the go-to destination for a fancy lunch and is well worth a visit.

Serving up hand-crafted pastas, meats and classic Italian cocktails in a relaxed eatery, courtyard and bar on Bondi Road. Led by two heavy-hitting chefs, Mike Eggert and Khan Danis, the menu is fun, simple and delicious, suited to all ages and designed to share.

The front end is built around Italian-style flatbread, cooked to order and accompanied by small plates of local and housemade charcuterie, Italian cheese and seasonal fruits. Drinks are simple, retro-Italian-inspired crowd pleasers, while the wine list focuses on small boutique wineries and organic drops with an Italian twist. But the best part about Totti's? The electric atmosphere that is always present.

LuLu

Lulu Bondi

Bondi's beloved Raw Bar's new little sister Lulu, which opened in May this year, has fast become a local staple. This Asian-fusion bar and the kitchen is bringing all kinds of delicious bites and inventive bevvies to Bondi's bar scene. Expect a selection of raw plates, sashimi and sushi alongside Asian favourites in the form of small and large plates. Think Korean fried chicken, Doubanjiang Beef with Toppokki and Prawn Banh Mi.

As for the interiors, you'll be kicking back with light and bright features including a marble bar, golden lights and rattan bar stools.

Zama

If you haven't yet had the chance to sample Argentinian cuisine, let Zama be the first to take you on a culinary journey through Latin America. You can expect plenty of grilled, wood-fired and charred delights, courtesy of the custom-built parrilla grill, alongside empanadas, jamon serrano and chimichurri. The interiors are equally impressive with rattan lighting, pops of greenery and a bamboo-clad roof lending a deliciously warm ambience.

With Mediterranean mezze and delicious drinks, Ikaria is the perfect spot for your next dinner with friends. A neutral-toned wonderland with arches and stunning views, this place might just be as close as you could get to a European holiday right now.

Promenade Bondi Beach

Promenade Bondi Beach

Creating a venue that feels luxe enough for a date night whilst also being appropriate for a beachside snack is no easy feat. But Promenade Bondi Beach is just that – a flexible space incorporating intimate dining spaces, a beachside terrace bar and a kiosk for those with sandy feet. Intrinsically nostalgic, Bondi Pavilion is home to the popular new venue Promenade Bondi Beach, which opened in March this year.

The décor, inspired by the sandstone cliffs tucked around Australia’s most famous beach, is both neutral and soft. The menu has been carefully crafted by House Made Hospitality Culinary Director Stephen Seckold and Executive Chef Chris Benedet, with influences ranging from Indonesia to Sri Lanka. But one overarching theme ties it all together – food that’s best-enjoyed beachside. Expect reimagined classics from Aquna Murray cod curry to Yellowfin tuna crudo.

Icebergs

Icebergs

Icebergs is one of the most iconic waterfront spots in Sydney, and everyone knows that pool – which is arguably Australia’s most Instagrammed pool. The dining room is just as impressive. Where else can you indulge in the complete luxury of Sydney’s seafood with the depth of regional Italian flavours?

Our top picks include the Morrocon Spring Bay mussels, the chilli prawn fettuccine and the pork ribs with maple glaze. If you're in the mood for something lighter, their poke bowl and Bergs ceaser salad are super fresh and tasty. There's also a kids' menu if you're coming with your little one in tow.

North Bondi Fish

North Bondi Fish

There’s nothing that screams ‘Sydney’ more than sparkling sea views paired with incredible seafood, and North Bondi Fish delivers on all fronts. The interior is bright and airy, and the clientele is hip yet relaxed – so you and your crew will fit right in.

Everything on the menu is incredible but you can't go past their trademark fish and chips (obviously!). If you're after something more hearty, the seared ocean trout with kipfler potatoes, watercress, and lemon is *chef's kiss*.  Round it all off with the pineapple fritter and coconut sorbet.

Set right on the beach, Bondi Trattoria is a relaxed, family-friendly restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, well known for some of the best Italian in Sydney. Get a spot on the outdoor terrace and soak up the fresh salty air as you peruse the phenomenal menu.

The pasta and pizza are made in-house daily, and much of the menu is designed to share. If you’re stuck, opt for the herb-roasted spitchcock with carrot, yogurt and pistachio.

China Diner

Known for being a popular date night destination, China Diner dishes up Pan-Asian cuisine in a dark, ambient setting. The mood is cosy, and the dumplings are out of this world. They also do Cantonese-inspired vegan, seafood and meat dishes, that pair perfectly with an extensive wine, sake and cocktail list.  The retro dining room is always pumping with buzz, energy and excitement.
