The popular wisdom used to be 'it's five o'clock somewhere' but in lockdown, we've pretty much decided that anytime after the 11am lockdown press conferences merits a drink. So, if you're looking to support local drinking holes and pick up a takeaway tipple, these are some of our favourite spots to pick up a takeaway bottled cocktail in Sydney.

Our favourite fine dining spot, Métisse, is already stepping up their game with delicious lockdown takeaway options and now they’ve joined the ranks of those who are making lockdown a little more bearable by sharing their delicious mixology skills. The Le Parfum cocktail list at Métisse contains some of the most delicious cocktails you’ll ever have the pleasure to taste. Offering four of their classic cocktails in take home forms pick up 250mL bottles of their quaffable takes on French classics the La Tarte Citron with flavours of vodka, limoncello and vanilla and La Tarte Tartin with black rum, Frangelico, apple and pear cider as well as their spicy Moulin Rouge and sweet subtle Douce France.

One of the coolest new spots in Sydney, Re, the world’s first fully sustainable bar, was making waves in pre-lockdown Sydney (remember her?) for all the right reasons. So, if you’re looking to Re-up your booze collection, this is the perfect spot to do just that, with single serve bottles and bundles available for pick up or delivery. Re is known for their unique takes on cocktails using native and creative ingredients, so these drinks are guaranteed to make lockdown better. We absolutely love Poor Toms. their sun-soaked Marrickville Gin Hall is the perfect place to kick back and relax, during Covid, they’re offering takeaway from the Gin Hall and free shipping and delivery. Their pre-mixes cocktails with two serves per bottle include the Aussie Negroni, the Marrickville, a cocktail ode to their neighbourhood or the Caribbean Queen. They also have bottles of their lovingly distilled spirits and canned craft cocktails from their G&T to the Negroni Spritz which retails at $23.50 for a four-pack.

One of our favourite hidden bars, The Long Goodbye bartenders are truly something special. When you visit them under normal circumstances you can witness their genius first hand by simply describing a feeling, memory, film synopsis to their bartenders who will make you a delicious bespoke drop on the spot. During lockdown they’re dishing up serves of their creative cocktails from their Stanley Street doorstep. Pick up their creative cocktails from kiwi fruit martini’s, French earl grey and persimmon negronis and even the ultimate comfort cocktail, spiced custard apple and caramel popcorn old fashioned.

Neighbourhood pub, The Unicorn, is a thriving hot spot in ‘precedented’ times with a raging dance floor and delicious drinkies. In unprecedented times they pivot to takeaway offerings. Order up tinnies, wine and a rotating cocktail list from the liked of gin and tonics to old fashioned serves. They’re also still serving up their delicious Mary’s burgers which -just in – pair perfectly with everything

Cocktails available for same-day delivery from Tuesday to Saturday each week, PS40 is one of our favourite hidden bars. Check out the PS40 ‘Snap Pack Box’ with cocktails inspired by the good times but with a hint of Covid irony. Expect the Zeneca Zombie with coconut infused Glenfiddich and spices, Glady’s Gimlet with gin and the PS40 Breakfast Negroni with flavours of the classic iso banana bread it makes for the perfect 11am press conference libation.

We’ll drink anywhere that shares a name with Madeleine’s neighbour! Pepitos in Marrickville is doing delivery of not just their tapas and churros but of their delicious cocktails. Think Pisco drinks like sours and chilcanos! Available for takeaway and delivery, order online or just give them a call.

The beloved Sixpenny is serving up bottled cocktails for lockdown which are sold through their Sixpenny general store. You can pre-order the day before on their Instagram and then just duck into the Sixpenny store (masked, of course!) and pick up your lockdown treats! Can you say efficiency! What can you expect? Think blackberry manhattans, martinis with buttered vodka and negronis made with Poor Tom’s gin.

This Dee Why mainstay is open for takeaway cocktails on the Northern Beaches. With deals on $10 takeaway cocktails, $5 schooners and $8 mulled wine running during their daily 3-6pm happy hour (by the way, how much do we love a 3pm lockdown cocktail!), you can pick up a range of rotating cocktail specials and, if you’ve got something special you’d like made, you can simply email them – they take requests!

1/24 The Strand, Dee Why
Manly’s InSitu, is selling takeaway cocktails in servings of two or six cocktails which are perfect for sharing (or sculling – the choice is yours!). Expect banana bread old fashioned, paloma faith (a smoky twist on a paloma), hibiscus chilli margarita or their their famous InSitu punch. You can’t go wrong here.

18 Sydney Road, Manly
The always creative Redfern Surf Club is serving up the perfect lockdown libations, in fly-as-hell glass bottles you can check out their charred pineapple margarita, watermelon marg, the self-explanitory margarita el spicy boi, pick up a negroni, classic marg, espresso martini or a bottle of sex on the couch (which is just a sex on the beach for those of us not within 10km of a coastline). In addition to the bottled cocktails they have also created cocktail party bags with between 500 and 700mL of booze in what is essentially a classier, sexier goon bag. Genius! This beloved Potts Point dumpling joint has stepped up their game during lockdown selling negronis, espresso martinis and all sorts of margaritas from their Challis Avenue shopfront. Pick up one of their perfectly poured half-half margaritas with tequila and mezcal, some dumplings for good measure and then walk them down to Beare Park for everyone’s favourite sundown/exercise spot.
