There are two types of people when it comes to planning out New Year’s Eve festivities; those that get in nice and early, and those that do not. If you fall into the latter category, this is your friendly reminder that 2020 will be over before you know it (like in 2 weeks).

If Melbourne is where you’ll be ringing in 2021, you’ll first have to figure out where to stay for the night. It has been quite the year and let's be honest, booking a hotel for NYE was not at the top of anyone's priority list. With the city now open and celebrations very much back on, it's time to get planning. While many hotels for New Year's Eve in Melbourne are fully booked, we've rounded up the last few gems that are ready to host you and your crew.

Doubletree By Hilton

You can’t get any more central to all the city’s NYE action than the Doubletree By Hilton. Located just across the road from the iconic Flinders St station and only 50m from Federation Square, step out from the lobby and soak up all the atmosphere that a new year brings. If your planning to make it a big night, the hotel’s signature Sweet Dreams® by DoubleTree bed will be sure to rest you up well, so you can make the most out of the rest of your stay.

The Hotel Windsor

If there’s one place in Melbourne to get all dressed up and experience some Gatsby-esque style nostalgia, it would be the historic  Hotel Windsor. The old-world charm of this hotel is not to be underestimated, with its Victorian-styled rooms and opulent interiors, providing a perfect backdrop for an indulgent New Year’s stay. The hotel is famed for its classy afternoon tea, which might just be one of the sweetest alternatives to a raucous NYE.

Park Hyatt Melbourne

As far as hotels for New Year's Eve in Melbourne go, you shouldn’t have a problem getting a room at the Park Hyatt  as it’s one of the city’s largest hotels, and most luxurious. The extra-large guest rooms with Italian marble bathrooms are a small attraction in themselves, but for NYE, the Terrace Suites are a must, with your own private terrace balcony to enjoy.

$495 per night (31 Dec - 1 Jan)

1 Parliament Square Off, Parliament Place, Melbourne

 The Prince

Rather than joining the crowds that head in to the CBD for New Year’s Eve, why not take advantage of the other happening hotspots around Melbourne. Throughout the year, St Kilda is the seaside playground for the city, and it doesn’t disappoint on NYE either. So, make it a night to remember with a stay at  The Prince, above The Prince of Wales pub. The stunningly appointed and spacious rooms of this hotel are unpretentious, but thoughtfully refined — adding that extra spark to the big night.
